Our comments

With a reasonable transfer from Geneva and a variety of hotels, Crans Montana is an obvious location for a corporate ski weekend. The skiing, although not as challenging as some resorts will suit all abilities and the scenery more than makes up for this.  The nightlife is fun and one of the restaurants boasts a Michelin star.  With all factors considered Crans offers a great all round experience.

Access Airport: Zurich
Transfer by car: 2.25 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs

Our comments

The town provides a good base for mixed groups including non-skiers who would rather stay in a bustling town than in a ski resort.  With easy access to the Jungfrau ski area, by staying here you get the best of both worlds.

Klosters

Height of resort: ?1190m
Highest lift: 2845m
Pistes: 310km
Access Airport: Zurich

Transfer by coach: 2.5 hours

Our comments

A pretty, traditional  and compact resort which shares the Parsenn ski area of Davos.  Its Royal connection makes the resort well known internationally.  There is a good selection of hotels and now that there is a bypass road leading to Davos, there is much less through traffic.

Access Airport: Geneva
Transfer by car: 1.5 hours
Transfer by coach: 2 hours

Our comments

Extensive, challenging skiing, a vibrant nightlife and a much improved lift system are its highlights, not to mention the reasonable transfer from Geneva.  However there is a limited selection of hotels in Verbier which makes availability hard to secure.

Villars
Number of lifts: 36
Height of resort: 1300m

Pistes: ?100km

Transfer by car: 1.5 hours

Villars is a beautiful traditional village which has been popular with our clients for many years. The transfer time is great for a weekend event and with access to the Les Diablerets glacier it makes Villars a snow sure resort. Although there is not extensive nightlife it is more than adequate for short stays. Villars is the perfect resort for weekend skiing.

Perhaps one of the best resorts in Austria.  It has a traditional Tyrolean feel, an excellent lift system with good high intermediate skiing and a lively après-ski.  As is the case with many Austrian resorts they demand week long bookings, from Saturday to Saturday.

Pistes: 132km
Access Airport: Salzburg/ Innsbruck/ Munich

Our comments

The medieval walled city of Kitzbuhel is unique and this central hub creates a real focal point to the village.  The atmosphere feels like a home from home. The resort is typically Austrian offering superb hotels and restaurants. We feel it is an excellent place to run a corporate event as it has all the right credentials.

Seefeld
Number of lifts: 25
Height of resort: 1200m
Highest lift: 2100m
Pistes: 45km
Access Airport: Innsbruck
Transfer by car: 20 minutes
Transfer by coach: 40 minutes

Our comments

Although the resort feels small, Seefeld has a large number of good quality hotels.  It is an attractive village with some good restaurants and sophisticated nightlife.  Known as a mini Kitzbuhel with its medieval architecture, it is perfect for a short break with a very short transfer time from Innsbruck.  The ski area is small but they have extensive cross country trails.

St Anton
Number of lifts: 85
Height of resort: 1305m
Highest lift: 2811m
Pistes: 276km
Access Airport: Zurich/ Friedrichshafen/ Innsbruck
Transfer by car: 2 hrs/ 1.5 hrs/ 1.25 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs/ 2 hrs/ 1.75 hrs

Our comments

The resort is an ideal choice for the hard-drinking, disco-loving, keen-for-action group who can stand the pace of getting to bed late and being up for the first lift. St Anton is a fantastic resort and perfect for a ski event, however it is very hard to secure rooms for a 3 night stay.

Zurs & Lech

Pistes: 276km
Access Airport: Zurich/ Friedrichshafen/ Innsbruck
Transfer by car: 2 hrs/ 1.5 hrs/ 1.25 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs/ 2 hrs/ 1.75 hrs

Our comments

The Arlberg Region really is as fantastic as everyone says it is. It has all the elements that you hope for when looking for a resort – superb mountain scenery, fantastic and varied skiing/boarding, friendly and hospitable locals, gourmet food and first class hotels. The only negative about this resort is that it is extremely hard to find hotel space, if we have found it then it is too good to pass up. You will not be disappointed

Italy

Bardonecchia
Number of lifts: 23
Height of resort: 1310m
Highest lift: 2750m
Pistes: 85km
Access Airport: Turin
Transfer by car: 1.5 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2 hrs

Our comments

Since hosting the 2006 Winter Olympics this resort has become better known and the short transfer make it very attractive.  Bardonecchia is an Italian town with a local life, rather than a typical ski resort so it has a slightly different feel which is good if you want to get away from the tour operators and perhaps try the local lingo!

Cervinia
Number of lifts: 24
Height of resort: 2050m
Highest lift: 3480m
Pistes: 130km
Access Airport: Turin
Transfer by car: 2.5 hrs
Transfer by coach: 3 hrs

Our comments

A high altitude resort with good snow cover, plus the added advantage of being linked to the glacier of the more famously known resort of Zermatt.  Unfortunately the hotels are mainly on the smaller side so finding space for weekends proves difficult.

Cortina d’Ampezzo
Number of lifts: 51
Height of resort: 1220m
Highest lift: 3243m
Pistes: 120km
Access Airport: Venice/ Treviso
Transfer by car: 2 hrs/ 1.75 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs/ 2.25 hrs

Our comments

Cortina is certainly somewhere different for those that have skied everywhere!  The stunning mountain scenery, excellent choice of restaurants and chic town centre make this resort an excellent choice for high end corporate groups.

Courmayeur
Number of lifts: 16
Height of resort: 1230m
Highest lift: 2755m
Pistes: 100km
Access Airport: Geneva or Turin
Transfer by car: 1.5 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2 hrs

Our comments

Our comments Located on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc Tunnel, Courmayeur is mainly a weekend destination which welcomes the corporate market.  A short transfer, a range of 3, 4 and 5 star hotels, lively nightlife and superb restaurants on and off the slopes makes this a popular destination.

Madonna di Campiglio
Number of lifts: 45
Height of resort: 1520m
Highest lift: 2505m
Pistes: 120km
Access Airport: Verona/ Milan
Transfer by car: 2hrs/ 3 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs/ 3.5 hrs

Our comments

The mountain village of Madonna di Campiglio is charming and traditional, and still retains an air of quiet sophistication and exclusivity, with luxury hotels and up-market boutiques. Not being too internationally known the resort offers great skiing aimed towards intermediates and is great for groups looking for a change.

Sauze d’Oulx
Number of lifts: 80
Height of resort: 1509m
Highest lift: 2825m
Pistes: 400km
Access Airport: Turin
Transfer by car: 1.5 hrs
Transfer by coach: 1.75 hrs

Our comments

Overall, Sauze d'Oulx is still known as a party venue with the benefits of being in a massive ski area. It has a few faults, but these can be forgiven when you take into account the vast ski area, beautiful surroundings, value for money and fun nightlife.

France

Alpe d’Huez
Number of lifts: 841
Height of resort: 1860m
Highest lift: 3320m
Pistes: 245km
Access Airport: Lyon/ Grenoble
Transfer by car: 3 hrs/ 1.5 hrs
Transfer by coach: 3.5 hrs/ 2 hrs

Our comments

With an extensive ski area and a variety of terrain, this resort is great in good conditions as it has high, sunny slopes and some lovely rustic mountain restaurants.  The village itself is not pretty but is fairly lively. Not for your high profile groups but a good all round resort.

Avoriaz
Number of lifts: 209
Height of resort: 1800m
Highest lift: 2300m
Pistes: 650km
Access Airport: Geneva
Transfer by car: 2 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs

Our comments

Avoriaz has a good position on the main Portes du Soleil circuit, giving access to very extensive and quite varied runs.  However, being purpose built , accommodation within the resort is mainly apartments therefore making availability for weekend groups limited

Chamonix
Number of lifts: 47
Height of resort: 1035m
Highest lift: 3842m
Pistes: 147km
Access Airport: Geneva
Transfer by car: 1 hr
Transfer by coach: 1.5 hrs

Our comments

Chamonix has plenty of atmosphere, nightlife and skiing for all abilities, combined with a short transfer which makes it a very popular corporate destination.  The only negative is that transport is required to and from the slopes; however, the furthest is only 15 minutes away by road. We can use private coaches and local ski buses in the resort and our events here have always worked very well. We feel that this minor logistical issue is outweighed by the huge benefits that Chamonix has to offer.

Courchevel
Number of lifts: 183
Height of resort: 1850m
Highest lift: 2659m
Pistes: 600km
Access Airport: Geneva
Transfer by car: 2 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs

Our comments

With the ski in, ski out convenience at most hotels, extensive skiing, choice of mountain restaurants and good nightlife, you can see why Courchevel 1850 is often at the top of peoples ‘wish list’ for ski eventst.   It is a great resort for groups as it ticks all of the right boxes.  Availability is hard to secure for large groups

La Plagne
Number of lifts: 105
Height of resort: 1250m
Highest lift: 3250m
Pistes: 225km
Access Airport: Geneva/ Lyon/ Chambery
Transfer by car: 2.75 hrs/ 2.75 hrs/ 2. hrs
Transfer by coach: 3.25 hrs/ 3.25 hrs/ 2.5 hrs

Our comments

La Plagne is the perfect destination for pushing your skiing to the limit with a vast ski area for all abilities.  Good middle of the range accommodation located on the slopes means that ski in-ski out is possible. Although not the prettiest of resorts, these factors certainly outweigh the fact that the transfer time is longer than most. La Plagne suits internal company events best

Les Arcs
Number of lifts: 56
Height of resort: 1800m
Highest lift: 3225m
Pistes: 200km
Access Airport: Geneva/ Lyon/ Chambery
Transfer by car: 2.75 hrs/ 2.75 hrs/ 2 hrs
Transfer by coach: 3.25 hrs/ 3.25 hrs/ 2.5 hrs

Our comments

Les Arcs is a good all round resort with a vast ski area for all abilities, fun nightlife and good middle of the range accommodation located on the slopes, so ski in-ski out is possible. Although not your prettiest of villages, these factors certainly outweigh the fact that the transfer time is longer than most. Les Arcs suits internal company events best.

Les Deux Alpes
Number of lifts: 51
Height of resort: 1650m
Highest lift: 3570m
Pistes: 220km
Access Airport: Lyon/ Grenoble/ Champery
Transfer by car: 3 hrs/ 1.5 hrs/ 3 hrs
Transfer by coach: 3.5 hrs/ 2 hrs/ 3.5 hrs

Our comments

A high altitude, snow sure resort with intermediate skiing and wild après ski.  Access via Grenoble is easy.

Meribel
Number of lifts: 200
Height of resort: 1400m
Highest lift: 2950m
Pistes: 600km
Access Airport: Geneva
Transfer by car: 2 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs

Our comments

Méribel is extremely popular with Brits and for many this is a reason not to visit. There is no doubt that this ski area suits all standards and provides more than enough terrain to exhaust the advanced skiers/boarders. You should not be deterred by the altitude of the resort as the ski area goes up to 2950m and the links to other Trois Vallées resorts are good.  Méribel offers a vast amount of terrain, first class accommodation, beautiful scenery and plentiful bars therefore making it a very attractive resort to hold a corporate event

Morzine
Number of lifts: 48
Height of resort: 1000m
Highest lift: 2010m
Pistes: 110km
Access Airport: Geneva
Transfer by car: 1.5 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2 hrs

Our comments

A popular year round resort which is close to Geneva airport and linked to the vast Portes du Soleil ski area.  It is certainly prettier than its neighbouring resort of Avoriaz and arguably has the better nightlife.

Tignes
Number of lifts: 97
Height of resort: 1550m
Highest lift: 3455m
Pistes: 300km
Access Airport: Geneva
Transfer by car: 3 hrs
Transfer by coach: 3.25 hrs

Our comments

Tignes, together with Val d’Isere make what is called the ‘Espace Killy’, one of the best ski areas in Europe.  However it is not as pretty as its neighbour and does not have a village atmosphere as it is a purpose built resort. But it is a high resort and therefore snow is guaranteed, therefore making this a very popular destination.

Val d’Isere
Number of lifts: 99
Height of resort: 1550m
Highest lift: 3455m
Pistes: 300km
Access Airport: Geneva/ Lyon/ Chambery
Transfer by car: 3 hrs/ 3 hrs/ 2 hrs
Transfer by coach: 3.5 hrs/ 3.5 hrs/ 2.5 hrs

Our comments

Val d’Isere really offers a huge range of skiing from beginner slopes to the more challenging red and black runs, and some great off piste.  It is very much a town but with its old style buildings it still keeps its traditional mountain feel.   There are numerous shops and hotels that suit all budgets and the nightlife is very lively with a lot of English holidaymakers who. Val d’Isere has been a favourite with our clients for many years as it offers all the right elements for a successful ski weekend, it is unlikely that its popularity will wane

Germany

Garmisch
Number of lifts: 34
Height of resort: 750m
Highest lift: 2962m
Pistes: 118km
Access Airport: Munich/ Innsbruck
Transfer by car: 1.75 hrs/ 45 mins

Our comments

A hidden gem and we hope it stays that way! With such a short transfer from two airports, high altitude skiing and a superb Bavarian atmosphere this resort is perfect for corporate weekends.

Highest lift: 1275m
Pistes: 97km

Our comments

Are is the largest ski area in Sweden and the resort suits all levels of skiers, it offers plenty of non-ski activities and a lively nightlife.  Are is definitely worth considering for those who have ‘skied the Alps’ but bear in mind that there are currently no direct flights into Ostersund.

Norway

Lillehammer

Height of resort: 200m
Highest lift: 1050m
Pistes: 33km
Access Airport: Oslo
Transfer by car: 2 hrs
Transfer by coach: 2.5 hrs

Our comments

Home of the 1996 Winter Olympics, the ski area of Hafjell (10 minutes drive from the city centre) and Lillehammer is a perfect winter destination as it has so much to offer in the way of activities. The ski area is fairly small and so is more suitable for a short weekend or a day’s skiing combined with other events.  Please see our Winter Alternatives section for further information on activities on offer.

A great destination for those with a decent budget as the resort boasts smart hotels and restaurants.  The skiing is fabulous and the resort is mainly traffic fee but it is vast and sprawling.
